Rock said he "liked the idea" of appearing on "It's My Job" from the moment Lopresti suggested the 31-year-old Irishman to appear in the series that focuses on jobs in the Thoroughbred industry. "Maybe I said, 'What am I getting myself into here?' but then when you guys explained what you were actually doing I thought it was really cool," Rock said. "We [workers in the stable area] don't get as much appreciation for what we do. Usually you just see the spotlight on the horses, so to show what we're all doing on a daily basis I thought was a great idea." Rock went about his daily duties with ease during multiple shoots in mid-March and early April, opening up about the highs and lows of working as an exercise rider and talking about the benefits of working year-round for Lopresti compared to his days as a jockey or as a freelance exercise rider. "At first I was thinking a little about the microphone and the camera, but as the morning went on I didn't even realize you guys were there," Rock said. "What really helped was when I got on with you two guys, it was like hanging out with two new friends more than anything. That made it easy to forget about the camera. "And I'm working, too, I'm staying busy and it's what I do every day. I didn't have to worry about changing or doing something I don't normally do." "Seeing the finished product was really cool. It all looks true and is all about what we do on the backside, getting these horses ready to race. I never thought about it much, but it is my job, so 'It's My Job' is a good name. You don't think about it too often, but now seeing it on video and looking back at what we do makes me think about how much I really love it."

GLEN‚"There's too much milk in New York State and because of it, eight local dairy farms may soon close. The farms are located in Saratoga, Montgomery, Fulton and Herkimer counties and they've been scrambling to find a processor that will buy their milk since they were notified their current processor won't renew the contract. The Dykeman Dairy Farm has been operating in Montgomery County for nearly 50 years and in all that time, there has never been more uncertainty about the future than there is right now. The processor they sell milk to has dropped them and the 7 other farms in their co-op, "we got a 30-day notice that they didn't need our milk anymore," says owner Ray Dykeman. International exports are down and there is a flush of milk in the northeast right now so processors simply don't need as much milk as they once did. "It was probably easier to go to the head of our co-op and say "we don't need your milk" any more than it was to go to 30 farms and say we don't need your milk, so basically our co-op got left out in the cold," says Dykeman who has been scrambling to find another processor for the past 24 days without success. He currently has 950 milking cows on his farm. "I have never seen anything like this ever and I hope to never see it again, I don't know 6 days from now if I'm out of business because if I have to dump my milk or send my cows down the road, it won't be a good day for me," Dykeman says and it won't be a good day for the communities where these farms operate either. "You look at all the equipment here and on all the other farms and there's a lot of jobs that are associated with all those investments, the milk truck drivers, the vet supply, the contractors that build buildings and help to maintain equipment and all those things, it's a ripple effect‚You're talking about 25% of the agricultural income in this county alone which would have a huge economic impact, it'd be pretty devastating to this area," says David Balbain, a Dairy Management Specialist with the Cornell Cooperative Extension. The group of farmers has reached out to the NYS Farm Bureau, The Department of Agriculture and Markets, Assemblyman Angelo Santabara's office and Senator George Amedore's office looking for help. All of the agencies claim they're working on assistance that may be able to aid the farmers while they try to find a new processor but time seems to be running out. "I hope they find a market, I think they will but it may end up being at a greatly discounted price," says Balbain. Dykeman is willing to make concessions to keep his farm open and his 40 employees working, "this is just a roadblock that I never saw coming and hopefully me and my family can figure out how to deal with it," he says.

The Saratoga Springs City Council held a special meeting Friday morning to talk about the proposed Saratoga Casino and Raceway expansion. The $30 million plan was announced last year and would include a hotel and event center. It is a big project, that some in Saratoga Springs want the city to have more input on. "It gives us local control," said Denise McDonald, a Saratoga resident. "I'm all for as much control as we can have, even on people who have a great idea," said Robert Maiorano, who lives in Saratoga. That is why some asked the City Council on Friday to request lead party status in the State Environmental Impact Assessment. That is the highest level of control in the process. But an attorney, hired by the city, said at Friday's meeting that it is not that easy. He said that state law surrounding video lottery terminals would give precedence to the state agency, in this case the State Gaming Commission. The attorney said that if the city pushed for lead status, it could lead to a lawsuit and cost taxpayers. He said the city lost a similar battle in 2006. "I think we all agree we want as much local control as the law will afford us, without engaging in a lot of lawsuits. That's very costly to the taxpayers," said Saratoga Springs Mayor Joanne Yepsen. Instead, Mayor Yepsen said she has been working with the Saratoga Casino and Raceway and the State. She said the Saratoga Casino and Raceway has voluntarily come before the city planning board as if it were a regular applicant. And she said it put aside $15,000 to pay for a report on traffic, utilities and storm water. The city expects to receive that next week. Yepsen said that she will send all of that, with a letter, to the Gaming Commission so that the city's input is heard. "We are going to continue down the path we have started which is a very amicable, but firm, holding their feet to the fire, in front of the planning board," she said. Some councilmembers said they want more concrete input and suggested the city write a letter to the state asking for a larger role called involved party status. Some residents CBS6 spoke with said they look forward to the expansion because it means more jobs. Saratoga Casino and Raceway has said the expansion would create 260 jobs. "It's jobs, it is progress. Change doesn't have to be bad," said Barb Howe, who lives in Saratoga.
